Crohn’s and Colitis Canada raises funds to iInvest in Crohn’s and colitis research to foster advances in prevention, treatments, cures and health policy. They also educate patients, families, industry and governments about Crohn’s and colitis, to improve the quality of life of those affected by these chronic diseases. By increasing public awareness of these chronic diseases and our organization, it makes it easier for them to advocate to governments and stakeholders on behalf of those affected by Crohn’s and colitis.

"I suffered from ulcerative colitis prior to surgery to remove my colon (large bowel) and I currently suffer from Crohns' Disease in my small bowel. I have family members who suffer from Crohn's Disease and I believe my children suffer from Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) based on symptoms although they have not been diagnosed yet. I have been volunteering with Crohn's and Colitis Canada for the past 17 years after being diagnosed. IBD describes a group of conditions - the two main forms of which are Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are diseases that inflame the lining of the gastrointestinal tract. More than 270,000 Canadian children, women and men – 1 in every 140 – are living with IBD, an occurrence rate that ranks among the highest worldwide."
