While Savana enjoys a stellar reputation as a hard-working full-size van, GMC’s engineers never stop looking for new ways to make this van help your business be even more productive. An excellent example is provided by the numerous enhancements to the Duramax 6.6L Turbo Diesel V8 engine that have resulted in a 14% increase in torque. The Right Engine Requires The Right Engine Lineup

 

Choosing the right engine begins with a wide selection. Savana Passenger Vans give you the choice of three Vortec V8 gasoline engines, while Cargo models also include a highly fuel-efficient V6. Both Passenger and Cargo models also offer the enhanced available Duramax 6.6L Turbo Diesel V8 that receives a significant boost in output for 2011, producing 260 hp and a prodigious 525 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine has proven itself with more than a million units already in service and its fuel efficiency is increased by the 6-speed automatic transmission that is mated with all Duramax engine applications in Savana.

 

Better Traction — Better Control

 

Savana is the only full-size van to offer All-Wheel Drive (AWD), available in both 1500 Cargo and Passenger models.** This full-time, single-speed AWD normally operates in a 35/65 front/rear torque split. When wheel slippage occurs, additional torque is transferred to the other axle. New for 2011, all Passenger and Cargo models feature the enhanced driver control of the StabiliTrak® electronic stability control system. It detects a loss of lateral traction (sideslip), understeer (plowing) or oversteer (fishtailing), intervening to help return Savana to your intended line. That's on top of a standard 4-wheel anti-lock braking system (ABS).

 

They Take A Full-Size Load

 

Savana enables you to match your van to your loading requirements, with regular and extended Cargo and Passenger Van configurations. Extended Cargo Vans offer a mammoth 8972 L (316.8 cu. ft.) loading area. Passenger Vans are available in 8, 12 and 15-passenger configurations. And Savana Cutaway models are engineered with massive loads in mind — the maximum Gross Vehicle Weight Ratings on 4500 models is 6441 kg (14,200 lb.)†. Savana Cutaways also allow for easy upfitting for industry-specific applications, with Ambulance, R/V, School Bus and Shuttle Bus packages.
